Let’s Talk Supplements and Morning Routine

Two years ago supplements overwhelmed me! There are SO many supplement options out there! How on Earth am I supposed to know what to take and what will work for my body?! How much, what kind, what time of day?…. I had no idea! Well, on my health journey these past 2 years, I seem to have found the right combination. I feel great and my body feels better than ever! I want to share what I use daily. Maybe, just maybe it’ll help you figure out what’s right for you.

You will notice that 1st Phorm is a major player in our supplement game. If you find yourself interested in trying any of their products after reading this post, I’m attaching Andy’s 1st Phorm Legionnaire link. If you purchase through his link, you’ll be helping my handsome hubs earn some commission! And please, let us know if you have any questions about the products. https://1stphorm.com/?a_aid=AndyI

These are the supplements that I take daily:

Each morning, I drink a morning “cocktail” BEFORE I have my coffee. The “cocktail” includes: 1 scoop AG1, 1 scoop 1st Phorm Creatine, and a 1/2 scoop of 1st Phorm Phormula-1 Clear-I take this post-workout.

1 scoop of Athletic Greens(AG1)-Athletic Greens claims to help with healthy aging, immune defense, gut health, focus, and energy. Andy and I have a monthly subscription. We’ve both been drinking AG1 daily for the last 2 years. The taste reminds us of a watered-down Dole Whip…which makes sense because AG1 describes the taste as a subtle sweetness of vanilla and pineapple. The color…I know it’s a little off-putting, but it’s actually good and good for you!

1 scoop of 1st Phorm Creatine– Andy has been using creatine longer than I have, as it’s intended to improve strength and exercise performance. However, I saw a post about how important creatine can be for women in perimenopause. It’s said to not only improve strength and exercise performance, but it can prevent muscle loss, improve bone density, improve brain health, reduce inflammation, reduce soreness, and prevent injury. So, knowing all that creatine can help me with during perimenopause…and it’s already in my cabinet…let’s go ahead and add a scoop of that in my greens!

1/2 scoop of 1st Phorm Phormula-1 Clear-I add this to my greens to give my body an extra protein boost in the morning after my 45-minute workout. Protein after a workout is important because it is essential for muscle recovery and growth. I use lemonade or key lime flavor because it pairs nicely with AG1’s subtle pineapple flavor.

Do you have to mix all this as a “cocktail”? NO! You can totally make this into a couple of different drinks. For me though, it’s just more convenient to mix these 3 together each morning. I use this drink to swallow down the pills that I take daily.

Pills taken daily:

– a packet of 1st Phorm Micro Factor- This is a daily nutritional packet that includes fruits & veggies, antioxidants, multivitamins, probiotics, EFA, and CoQ10. 1st Phorm says that Micro Factor will promote your overall health and wellness while also supporting the ability to perform at a higher level in and out of the gym. Andy takes these too.

-1 1st Phorm Full Mega-Premium Omega-3 formula that promotes heart and brain health. Andy also takes these, but he takes 3 per day.

-2 Bioma Probiotics-I know I already get a probiotic with my Micro Factor and in my AG1, but this seems to really help me too. Gut health has been a struggle for me, but thankfully, now my gut health is truly the healthiest that it’s ever been.Bioma says it contains a unique blend of probiotics that are optimized for weight management and overall gut health. The benefits are reduced stomach heaviness and improved digestion. Andy does not take these.

-1 Black Cohosh (750mg)-This was recommended by my doctor to help with night sweats. It truly helps! Andy does not take these.

I take all this before I eat a healthy breakfast. Breakfast for me usually consists of a piece of homemade sourdough toast covered in either avocado or jelly and a farm-fresh egg over medium. It’s so good! Sometimes I’ll switch it up and have a bowl of oatmeal with PB Fit, or a bowl of protein cereal with organic milk. Andy does the same, except he will have 2 more eggs combined with oatmeal or cereal. Men get to eat more calories in a day…so unfair to the ladies!

We mustn’t leave out the coffee! I love coffee and always have a 22 oz. cup to sip on throughout the morning. It used to be coffee with vanilla coffee creamer. That was until I learned the importance of protein and became obsessed with reaching my daily protein goals. NOW, I make vanilla protein creamer using  Level-1 1st Phorm vanilla protein powder mixed with 1% organic milk. Pro-tip…I use a shaker to mix my milk and protein powder then pour the creamy mixture into my coffee. Mixing the powder directly into hot coffee makes it clumpy.

I also add 1 scoop of 1st Phorm Collagen. Collagen is not only good for your hair, skin, and nails…it’s also good for your joints, tendons, bones, and ligaments. 1st Phorm Collagen mixes so well with coffee, it never clumps and gives a good frothy, cocoa-like texture. An added bonus…it to have 15g of protein!

Andy and I take many of the same supplements, but he takes a few more than I do:

Andy’s Supplement Routine:

Andy’s Morning “cocktail”-AG1 mixed with 1st Phorm Collagen, he takes this to the gym and hydrates with this during his workout.

Post Workout-2 scoops Phormula 1 protein powder, 1 scoop 1st Phorm Ignition(glycogen replenishment), 1 scoop 1st Phorm Creatine-The glycogen replenishment is said to improve muscle stamina, spikes insulin, and ignites muscle growth.

1 packet of 1st Phorm Micro Factor and 3 Full Mega pills

1/2 packet LMNT electrolyte drink mix later in the day, just to help with hydration.

What I have shared above is what I, a mid-forties woman in perimenopause take daily. I honestly feel better than ever! My supplements combined with daily exercise and a clean foods diet is helping me to feel and look my best. Andy is a 49-year-old, very active man, that is in the best shape of his life. Once you can wrap your head around the what and the when your body needs, supplements become way less overwhelming. I hope by knowing what is working for us, you can get started with your own supplement routine so you too can feel and look your best. You are worth it! Your body will thank you for it!

3 John 1:2 Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.
