A couple years ago supplements overwhelmed me! There are SO many supplement options out there! How on Earth am I supposed to know what to take and what will work for my body?! How much, what kind, what time of day?…. I had no idea! Well, on my health journey these past 3 years, I seem to have found the right combination. I feel great and my body feels better than ever! You won’t find me skipping a day or leaving any of this at home when I travel. Here is what I use daily. Maybe, just maybe it’ll help you figure out what’s right for you.
You will notice that 1st Phorm is a major player in my supplement game. If you find yourself interested in trying any 1st Phorm products after reading this post, Andy’s 1st Phorm Legionnaire link can get you to anything I mention and more.
These are the supplements that I take daily:
Each morning, I drink a morning “cocktail” BEFORE I have my coffee. The “cocktail” includes: 1 scoop 1st Phorm Opti-Greens(chocolate), 2 scoops 1st Phorm Creatine, 1 scoop 1st Phorm Glutamine, 1 scoop 1st Phorm Colostrum, a 1/2 scoop of 1st Phorm Level-1 protein powder, and a serving of 1st Phorm Liposomal Vitamin D3-I take this post-workout.
–1 scoop of 1st Phorm Opti-Greens-Opti-Greens supports a strong and healthy immune system. This is so important to me, because working as an elementary school teacher…my immune system needs all the help it can get.
–2 scoops of 1st Phorm Creatine– Creatine is intended to improve strength and exercise performance. However, I saw a post about how important creatine can be for women in perimenopause. It’s said to not only improve strength and exercise performance, but it can prevent muscle loss, improve bone density, improve brain health, reduce inflammation, reduce soreness, and prevent injury. So, knowing all that creatine can help me with during perimenopause…let’s go ahead and add a couple scoops of that in my greens!
–1/2 scoop of 1st Phorm Level-1-I add this to my greens to give my body an extra protein boost in the morning after my 45-minute workout. Protein after a workout is important because it is essential for muscle recovery and growth. I add any flavor that compliments the chocolate flavor of my greens.
–1 scoop 1st Phorm Glutamine-This supports training, recovery, and overall wellness.
–1 scoop 1st Phorm Colostrum-By adding this, it helps gut health, digestive function, immune system strength, recovery, and overall wellness.
–1 serving of 1st Phorm Liposomal Vitamin D-My most recent blood work showed my vitamin D levels in the low range, so this is the perfect addition to my morning cocktail as it helps with bone health/strength, immune system function, muscle function, and calcium absorption. All very important to a woman in perimenopause.
I know it seems like a lot, but I have this down to a routine. I mix this at night before I go to bed and it’s ready for me after my morning workout. My Zulay Frother mixes this all quite nicely. Do I have to mix all this as a “cocktail”? NO! You can totally make this into a couple of different drinks. For me though, it’s just more convenient to mix these together each morning. I use this drink to swallow down the pills that I take daily.
Pills taken daily:
– a packet of 1st Phorm Micro Factor- This is a daily nutritional packet that includes fruits & veggies, antioxidants, multivitamins, probiotics, EFA, and CoQ10. 1st Phorm says that Micro Factor will promote your overall health and wellness while also supporting the ability to perform at a higher level in and out of the gym.
-1 1st Phorm Full Mega-Premium Omega-3 formula that promotes heart and brain health.
-2 Bioma Probiotics-I know I already get a probiotic with my Micro Factor and in my AG1, but this seems to really help me too. Gut health has been a struggle for me, but thankfully, now my gut health is truly the healthiest that it’s ever been.Bioma says it contains a unique blend of probiotics that are optimized for weight management and overall gut health. The benefits are reduced stomach heaviness and improved digestion.
-1 Black Cohosh (750mg)-This was recommended by my doctor to help with night sweats. It truly helps!
I take all this before I eat a healthy breakfast. Breakfast for me usually consists of a piece of homemade sourdough toast covered in either avocado or jelly and a farm-fresh egg over medium. It’s so good! Sometimes I’ll switch it up and have a bowl of oatmeal with PB Fit, or a bowl of protein cereal with organic milk.
After my cocktail and breakfast…we mustn’t leave out the coffee! I love coffee and always have a 20 oz. Owala FreeSip to sip on throughout the morning. It used to be coffee with vanilla coffee creamer. That was until I learned the importance of protein and became obsessed with reaching my daily protein goals. NOW, I make vanilla protein creamer using Level-1 1st Phorm vanilla protein powder mixed with 1% organic milk. Pro-tip…I use my stainless steel shaker to mix my milk and protein powder then pour the creamy mixture into my coffee. Mixing the powder directly into hot coffee makes it clumpy.
I also add 1 scoop of 1st Phorm Collagen. Collagen is not only good for your hair, skin, and nails…it’s also good for your joints, tendons, bones, and ligaments. 1st Phorm Collagen mixes so well with coffee, it never clumps and gives a good frothy, cocoa-like texture. An added bonus…it to have 15g of protein!
What I have shared above is what I, a mid-forties woman in perimenopause, take daily. I honestly feel better than ever! My supplements combined with daily exercise and a clean foods diet is helping me to feel and look my best. Once you can wrap your head around “the what and the when” your body needs, supplements become way less overwhelming. I hope by knowing what is working for me, you can get started with your own supplement routine so you too can feel and look your best. You are worth it! Your body will thank you for it! Invest in your health now so you don’t have to pay for it when you’re sick.
3 John 1:2 Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.
